145cm Sigmund Ruud Bamboo Cross-Country Ski Poles - late 1960s
Description
145cm Sigmund Ruud Bamboo Cross-Country Ski Poles - late 1960sSigmund Ruud was a champion ski jumper from Norway who ran a ski shop in Oslo after he retired. He sold skis and poles under his brand into the 1970s, and this pair of poles is a nice example. Beautiful leather handles and straps, and black plastic baskets. One of the poles has been split, at the bottom, as happens with bamboo poles. It has been repaired by the experts at Skifabrikk, using traditional methods, and is back to its original strength!

If you look at the pictures and say "golly where are the holes in the toe" - this is a FEATURE
so the shading on the leather is slightly different
but since they were applied on top of the factory finish
pair of early 70s wood racing ("langrenn") skis from Blå-Skia
"Støvel" just means boot
We guess that these hail from the mid 1960s given the construction of the baskets - a classic 4 prong leather style
The "vario" part of the name is probably because that red bit can flip either up or down
This pair is from the 1960s and is all-leather with the exception of the heel
while all of the markings say Jette
and these skis feature the markings from the legendary Eldar Hagen sports store in Oslo
